Methods of Reversing the Stimuli- Evoked Pancreatic Insufficiencies of Chronic Degenerative Diseases

چکیده
We are indebted to Hans Selye (1947, 1956,1974) for the general adaptation syndrome. Hans Selye observed correctly that chronic stress leads to chronic disease. 1. Stage one is acute nonadapted reaction. 2. Stage two is adaptation reaction. 3. Stage three is chronic nonadapted reaction. Hans Selye has spent much time in evoking inflammation and relieving and/or blocking inflammatory reactions. He correctly perceived the end point of stress breakdown as being adrenocortical. He specialized in using adrenocortical hormones in relieving and blocking inflammation. He gave recognition only in a small way to the role pancreatic enzymes play in evoking as well as relieving inflammation. This recognition was given in a conference held in his honor when Rocha Silva contributed a chapter to a book in 1968 (Silva and Kasmin, 1968). His 1976 updating of this

Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential Produced by Bone-Conducted Stimuli: A Study on its Basics and Clinical Applications in Patients With Conductive and Sensorineural Hearing Loss and a Group With Vestibular Schawannoma
Introduction: Vestibular evoked myogenic potential (VEMP) has recently been broadly studied in vestibular disorders. As it is evoked by loud sound stimulation, even mild conductive hearing loss may affect VEMP results. Bone-conducted (BC) stimulus is an alternative stimulation for evoking this response. This study aims to assess the characteristics of BC-VEMP in different groups of patients. ...
متن کاملAssessing the Effect of Opium Dependence on Visual Evoked Potential (VEP) in Men
Abstract Background: Opium-dependence having different effects on the nervous system is a common problem, especially in the Middle East and Iran. The aim of this study is evaluating the effects of opium-dependence on visual evoked potential (VEP) in men. Methods: Thirty subjects with both chronic cigarette smoking and opium-dependence (group 1) and 30 subjects with only chronic ciga...
متن کاملAbnormalitites of Visual Evoked Potential in Migraine Patients
Background: Visual evoked potential (VEP) is regarded as a useful, reliable and non-invasive technique for the diagnosis of lesions in the optic pathway. This technique was used to investigate visual function in migraine. Materials and Methods: 53 migraine patients (27 migraine cases with aura and 26 common migraine cases) and 55 controls were prospectively enrolled in this study. Visual ev...
متن کاملImprovement of the functionality of pancreatic Langerhans islets via reduction of bacterial contamination and apoptosis using phenolic compounds
Objective(s): During type-1 diabetes treating by pancreatic islet transplantation, increasing oxidative stress and microbial contaminations are the main reasons of transplantation failure. In this study, we evaluated anti-apoptotic, antioxidant and antimicrobial potentials of phenolic compounds called ellagic acid (EA) and silybin on rat pancreatic islets. Materials and Methods: By doing MTT as...
متن کاملComparing the Enzyme Replacement Therapy Cost in Post Pancreatectomy Patients Due to Pancreatic Tumor and Chronic Pancreatitis.
BACKGROUND Among late postoperative complications of pancreatectomy are the exocrine and endocrine pancreatic insufficiencies. The presence of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency imposes, as standard treatment, pancreatic enzyme replacement. Patients with chronic pancreatitis, with intractable pain or any complications with surgical treatment, are likely to present exocrine pancreatic insufficien...
